The use of the fibres of edible bananas is a development of the of Rajamangkala University. The results are banana silk, a mixture of cotton and banana fibre. This project was intended to provide farmers with an additional source of income. In the weaving mill, beautiful silk-like fabrics are woven from harvested banana plants that would normally have ended up on the compost heap.
Fabric width
As the fabrics are handmade, an exact width of 1 m cannot always be guaranteed. It is depending on the weaver's weaving style, the width
can vary between 90 and 100 cm.
You have the option of ordering the fabric width narrower than the standard of 90-100 cm.

Thickness 2 = suitable for thin jackets;
Thickness 3 = suitable for home textiles and backpacks
The proportion/percentage of fibre does not change, only more or less yarn is used or yarns with different different thicknesses.
The minimum order quantity is 5 metres.
For custom-made products, the minimum order quantity is 15 metres. Please send us the details with an example photo via e-mail.
